Rebecca Van Eeden is a Chartered Accountant, Registered Tax Agent, and Founder of Better Business Advisors. With over 20 years of experience working with clients across industries, from construction, property, and IT start-ups to music, arts, and creative enterprises. Rebecca has built a reputation as one of the most trusted and dynamic business advisors in her field.

Far from the stereotype of a conventional accountant, Rebecca brings energy, empathy, and real-world insight to everything she does. She founded Better Business Advisors to create a more personal, flexible, and human approach to accounting, one that supports people, not just numbers. Her team is made up of working mums, reflecting her belief that professional excellence and family life can thrive side by side.

Rebecca is passionate about helping clients achieve their business and personal financial goals. Rebecca takes pride in being a true partner in her clients’ journeys. She is trusted by a diverse client base including First Nations enterprises, women-led businesses, creatives, and SMEs across Australia.

When she’s not immersed in numbers, Rebecca loves spending time with her family, getting outdoors, and cooking up something delicious at home and siestas.

Damian Atkins
Director and Founder

Damian is a finance professional with over 20 years experience, having fine-tuned his knowledge over multiple industries.
Commencing his career with public practice firm WHK (now Crowe Horwath), Damian has also worked as a Management Accountant within a large Construction Group and as a Finance Manager in the professional sporting arena, with the Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club. Most recently Damian was the CFO of Australia’s leading social enterprise, The Big Issue and its newest initiative, Homes for Homes. Damian has undertaken studies in Business Law at Monash and most recently completed a ‘Leadership for Organisational Impact’ course with the Melbourne Business School.

When not crunching spreadsheets you’ll find Damian at one of the many sporting stadiums around Melbourne, keeping up with his beloved sporting teams, the Collingwood Magpies and the Melbourne Storm.

Saul Bartlett

With over 15 years of experience in Australian taxation, Saul is a seasoned Chartered Accountant specializing in serving small businesses, tradesmen, and professionals in the entertainment industry. He provides expert guidance on tax compliance, planning, and strategies that help clients maximize their financial outcomes while navigating the complexities of the Australian tax system.
Saul is also proficient in managing Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs), assisting clients in optimizing their retirement savings through personalized superannuation strategies. His comprehensive understanding of SMSF regulations ensures clients remain compliant while achieving their long-term financial goals.
A member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and a Registered Tax Agent, Saul is committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity and excellence. Sarah is a highly experienced Accountant and Outsourced CFO with over 20 years of expertise across a diverse range of sectors. Her career has encompassed roles in NGO governance, commercial business management, business technology implementation, training, and small practice accounting.
Sarah holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialisation in Project Management and Technology.
In her spare time, Sarah is an operational member of her local SES unit, and when not working or volunteering, you'll find her exploring remote alpine landscapes on expedition hikes!​​​​​​​​​​

Barbara Cecchetti

Barbara Cecchetti is a seasoned Accountant with a strong background in Tax Accounting and a proven track record of delivering reliable financial solutions.

Barbara holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from CQ University, along with a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication. Her diverse academic background enhances her ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
​
Barbara has worked with a wide range of clients, providing comprehensive bookkeeping, tax, and financial management support. She is highly regarded for her meticulous attention to detail and her dedication to helping businesses maintain accurate financial records while strengthening their overall financial health.
In addition to her expertise in accounting, Barbara is an active volunteer with the local Scout group and a passionate supporter of community initiatives. Outside of work, she enjoys showcasing her culinary talents in the kitchen for family and friends!

Rebecca brings over a decade of experience in bookkeeping and administration to her role at Better Business Advisors, where she has been a valued team member for the past two years.
Prior to this, Rebecca spent 10 years at a mid-tier firm specialising in real estate bookkeeping and trust account management. Rebecca has built a strong foundation in accuracy, compliance, and client service.

Rebecca is known for her high attention to detail and collaborative approach. Rebecca is an efficient and dependable part of the team, with a strong background in administrative roles across a range of industries.
​
Outside of work, Rebecca is a proud mum of two. She enjoys spending quality time with her family at the theatre and is a supporter of the Melbourne Football Club.​

Ruth Bloomfield

Ruth has been part of the Better Business Advisors team for the past two years, bringing strong attention to detail and a solid foundation in bookkeeping to support her clients with accuracy and care. Her approachable nature and dedication to delivering quality work make her a valued member of the team.

Before entering the world of bookkeeping, Ruth completed a degree in Naturopathy and spent five years working in early childhood education. She brings the same level of care, organisation, and people focused mindset from those roles into her work with clients at Better Business Advisors.

Ruth enjoys watching her son play soccer and is passionate about health and wellness in her lifestyle!

Georgie joined Better Business Advisors at the start of 2024. She brings a blend of creativity, organisation, and an eye for detail to her role in administration, client services, and bookkeeping support.

With over fifteen years of experience in the creative industry, Georgina has transitioned into the business world, applying her communication and problem-solving skills to support both clients and Rebecca.

Outside of BBA Georgie enjoys running out in nature trails, and walking her labradoodle by the river! She loves supporting her two children at basketball games and dance performances.​

Vicky Yang

With over 16 years of combined experience across public practice and industry, Vicky is a seasoned finance executive specialising in taxation and CFO advisory. A qualified Chartered Accountant with a Master of Professional Accounting, Vicky brings extensive expertise in tax planning, group structuring, asset protection, and business strategy, including cash flow management, project costing, and strengthening internal processes and controls.

Vicky works closely with clients to deliver tailored advice and practical solutions, helping businesses enhance financial performance, and achieve sustainable growth.
​
Outside of work, Vicky enjoys spending time with family, especially on ski trips or cheering on the kids from the sidelines at their sports games.

Wagina Kennell

Wagina Grace Kennell is a First Nations Ugarem-le (Meriam Mir) consultant and experienced leader with a background spanning government investigations, regulatory compliance, and First Nations business development.

Wagina has worked across complex public sector and community environments, supporting governance, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and culturally informed program delivery.
​
Wagina holds qualifications in Government Investigations and Government Administration and is currently completing a Bachelor of Cybersecurity, complementing her expertise in risk, systems, and evidence-based decision making. She is passionate about supporting socially valuable organisations, and communities to build strong, self-determined and sustainable futures.
Outside of work, Wagina is deeply engaged in creative practice and community initiatives.

Angela Johnson

With nearly two decades experience across not-for-profit and profit-for-purpose sectors, Ang offers a broad skill set spanning bookkeeping, payroll, content creation, and organisational operations. She’s also a qualified nutritionist (BHSc) and advocate for living sustainably.
At BBA, Ang thrives on problem-solving, organisation and digging into the details... especially the numbers! Diligent, perceptive and personable, she’s known for warm communication and building genuine rapport with clients and colleagues.
When not at the desk, you’ll find Ang with family and friends, contributing to women’s health projects, creating in the kitchen, reading, or hiking in wild spaces.
